Been with this practice nearly 40 years. they have now been taken over and seem to run with a staff of locums. They don't have the time to read your history and as a result, I have been prescribed medication that has made me ill! All about money now, no quality of care. The practice is in total chaos.

I popped in to yesterday and made a flu jab appointment. I also wanted to make an appointment to see a doctor and was told to ring back at 8 am the following morning. I rang 5 or 6 times between 8 and 9 (even though I am working), but it was engaged. At 12:30 I tried again and after the lovely messages about how important I am it switched to a ringing tone and rang and rang for 10 mins at which point I gave up. I also tried again at 14:30 and got the same messages and ringtone for 7 minutes. I checked the online appointment system as I have done before and it shows no appointments available for the next session (as usual).
Have been with this practice for nearly 60 years but getting an appointment these days to see a doctor is difficult. Having to phone at 8 am is sometimes difficult and pre booking an appointment almost impossible. Also don't feel there is any continuity of care as it's difficult to get to see the same doctor. On the other hand the nursing staff and practitioners are very helpful and friendly.
I have had nothing but problems with Rene medical practice. It’s almost impossible to book a appointment. After trying 64 times this morning and this taking 30 minutes. I was given a appointment for today. But let’s not forget I have been trying to book one for weeks. On the last occasion the receptionist was so rude I ask to speak with another member of staff. After demanding another member of staff, the receptionist decided she would pretend to be another member of staff. Absolutely disgusting service.
I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Just recently my daughter became very ill, she phoned the surgery as soon as they opened on the day in question. After being on the phone continually for three quarters of an hour she was refused an appt. This happened 3 times in the same week. Not being able to have access to her GP resulted in her having to attend A&E . Unable to get her referred to see a consultant in Neurology at The Hallamshire Hospital the Dr in A&E phoned to get her an appt. to see a Dr at Reaney Avenue the following morning. By this time my daughter was extremely ill, unable to walk unaided, her speech affected , terrible pain in her head, face & neck, vomiting & diarrhoea. She was in no fit state to go to the surgery, I telephoned to ask for a home visit, I was refused yet again. Together with her Husband & myself we managed to get her to the surgery & carry her in. We were told to wait in the main surgery & the Dr she was booked in with was running late. I was appalled they expected us to wait in a room full of other patients in such pain, vomiting & diarrhoea. We were shown no empathy or understanding. I had to ask if there was a room that we could wait in to see the Dr as my daughter needed to lie down, begrudgingly they found us one. Eventually we were able to see the Dr resulting in my daughter being admitted to the Hallamshire where she should have been days before. I will add the care & professionalism she received there was excellent. On being discharged from the hospital the Consultant said she needed to make an appt to see her GP. On the Monday she phoned first thing & guess what....was again told there were no appt. Iam absolutely appalled at the treatment that we received at this practice. Consequently, when my daughter has fully recovered she will be registering with a new practice.
