Stunning scenery and wildlife. Well worth a visit. Paths are well marked and if you're adventurous, there is walking along the cliff edge path. Take some binoculars with you and a drink as you will probably end up walking further than you think. Lots of different birds to discover along the cliffs. There are several benches to perch up on and have a longer look out to sea to spot a dolphin or minke whale if you're lucky. Great place after dark to star gaze and watch the wildlife come alive. We only saw 1 other chap on a mountain bike on the day we visited and only a handful of folk on our previous visit in May 2019. Love this place!

One of my favourite spots for bird watching in Scotland - thousands of gannets dancing about the sky, absolutely hypnotising! Do take care on the cliff edges though.

Gannet City\ RSPB Troup Head aka \Gannet city\ is signposted off the B9031 and is found between Pennan and Gardenstown on the B9031, East along the coast from Macduff Banff. Follow the RSPB brown signs until you reach the Northfield Farm and continue onto a rough track until you reach the Troup Head car park. There is a flight of steps (I only counted 150 steps). Hiking boots should be worn and strictly highly consideration should be given to the signage regarding the route. On a sunny day with a clear sky and a mild breeze, you would expect to experience the best adventure: enjoying the mirific and beautiful scenery. Salty and mild breeze coming from the sea, thousands of different sort of sea birds (different colonies can be observed at different view points), enjoying the trill of different small and large birds, wild plants, bushes and wildflowers. Simply, laying on the grass at one of the view points on the cliff-top and taking in the beautiful scenery; watching the tens of thousands of seabirds: gannets, guillemots, razorbills, puffins, herring gulls. A combination of smells of salty sea water - freshly cut green grass - wildflowers scent - bird droppings - bird nests - fluffy chicks and other unknown scents will quickly gallop through your nose and they will enchant your sense and mind. Please don't ignore the warning signage: \Unprotected Cliff Edge!\ Stay safe and enjoy one of the most beautiful places in Scotland.

Beautiful spot. Lots of gannets around, also kittiwakes, great cormorant, shags. Both kittiwakes and gannets had young ones - the gannets ranging from tipy cotton balls. In their nests to juveniles. Kittiwakes mostly the interestingly coloured \teenagers\. You can get very close to the cliffs and see these amazing beasts close up. The cliff Edge is unprotected so be careful!
