I have taught internationally and at some very good schools, VMCCA is an amazing gem of a school with plenty of opportunities for students who apply themselves. Staff is caring and talented, many have their National Certifications! Students are diverse and overall very accepting of each other’s differences and the small size limit of 400 students means teachers learn their names and personalities... you are not a number as you would be in larger regional schools. I have noted that many teachers collaborate in project based learning for real-world experiences. You might see a geometry lesson in art, a history lesson in English, an architecture lesson in Spanish, etc. Students can get a free year of college credit by taking a 5th year, and many other college courses are offered while you attend the high school program's partnership woth Wake Tech. If one planned well, you could graduate with an associate's degree and save 2 years of college tuition! Education is a partnership, and VMCCA has it’s hands wide open. One must apply to this Nationally Recognized magnet high school early to attend; consider a visit in 7th grade. Their limit of 400 students is strict.

I'm gonna be honest with you here, this school used to be amazing and fun but as my school years went by then it became worse. First of when i was a freshman I was told, by other students, that I will be getting my associates degree after I graduate that information is false. 100% false, and there was no one to blame but wake county for the miscommunication towards the students from previous schools, granted that we are a new school so they are still figuring out what we will be able to have but that still isn't an excuse, i could have the opportunity to be a ormal\ high school student if i was told this information sooner rather than later, the name Early college can be very misleading. Second I gotta say that the teachers at this school is amazing and incredibly friendly! I absolutely love this fact about the school. My only other complaint is that...i feel like i'm in a box- they often encourage us to be outside the box but its difficult when their keeping us in it. Metaphorically and literally- they set up a beracade on one side of the school to keep us from passing because of something called Hawksnest (where people below a 70 must go to) but the issue is when a child who dosen't have a 70 need shelp on an assignement they are not given passage to go towards their teachers because of this rule and they have been extremly rude about it. I was apassing once because i needed helped for chem and I had a quiz tom, but since it was during hawksnest i wasn't granted passage and the person regulating that area was extremly rude. I warn people who want to come here to be careful because they are becoming more strict than ever
