I can see why the monks build their home here. The views are spectacular on a good day. The visitor centre is closed at the moment due to Covid but the info board around the site help you understand what was going on. Well worth a visit.

Incredibly isolated monastic site on an island linked by causeway. Beautiful place with beautiful views. But we were lucky with the weather.
Very interesting historic site near Killyleagh and Comber. The site is well signposted to find and also with interesting facts posted around the site about the workings of the monastery when it was occupied and in use. There are also signs offering information on the different local flora and fauna you can look for at different times of year. Situated atop a hill in an island and connected to the main land peninsula by a narrow road, the site offers fantastic 360 views of the surrounding sea and farmland. There is a small visitor centre tucked away to the side of the site but it was not open when we visited. A very nice way to spend an hour or so.
A lot of windy roads to get to it but worthwhile . It is surrounded by water and beautiful scenery
Nendrum is a quiet place with nice views over Strangford Lough.
