Nothing but good to say about Juban. Love how intimate it is, the layout, the food is fantastic -- fresh, and the staff is attentive. Only critique is that I wandered in, sat myself, and didn't have a clue how the menus worked. I guess I looked like a regular so they didn't bother to give me a run down.

The only good thing I got was the ginger hot tea. The staff was very helpful. The food was really bad. Nothing that would make me consider giving an extra half star. My friend did like the vegan options especially the cauliflower dish. Always go try something regardless of the review, but be aware. What might be good for me might be bad for you. We all have different tastes and no one it’s an expert at this.
Juban is one of my all time favorite NYC restaurants. Had the most beautiful dinner there tonight. The atmosphere is charming and sweet. The staff is attentive and kind. The food is so delicious. You can tell it is prepared with great care. My go to's are the black cod (it melts in your mouth so good), the spicy cucumbers are refreshing with a great kick, the spicy mayo tempura cauliflower - makes me love a vegetable I normally don’t like at all, and the sushi is always so fresh and delicious. Also they make their soy sauce in house and it is hands down the best soy sauce I’ve ever had. Oh and tonight I had the matcha lava cake and I will seriously be dreaming about it until I can have it again. This is a very special place and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Great service. Excellent sushi.
Been a regular at Juban since it opened. Moved to Cali last year but I always swing by when I’m in town for business. Great place to take dates and clients. I often make a “pit stop” here walking down the Highline between Hudson Yards and the Standard. There’s plenty of options (and GOOD ones) for dietary restrictions. ie vegetarian, gluten-free. The atmosphere is really special. Somehow both cozy and sleek, old-fashioned and modern. It’s the perfect middle ground between tacky and sterile. Sad to see the barstools empty (COVID rules), but the outside set up was refreshing. Sushi is top notch, better than most sushi bars, the best in Chelsea. Unbelievable sake selection. They have a “sake map” to help navigate you. Dangerously tasty cocktails. You can buy a bottle of Japanese whisky and keep it behind the bar! Man I miss it. If you live in Chelsea, go there, now!
