The Imperial Palace is free to enter and the complex is quite huge, well that is expected considering the name and all. No fee is charged to enter the premises, guide books and an audio guide is available aside from the usual person guided tour, which is only available few times a day. Surely a place you don't want to miss when you're in Kyoto. Although an hour or 2 should be more than enough to spend your time here.
The Imperial Palace is definitely worth seeing, especially if you are interested in Japanese culture. It is free to enter. The guide tour is not available due to COVID-19.
Good place to start off a visit in Kyoto. Nice big area to explore and a good alternative when the other Kyoto tourist spots are super busy. Be prepared to do a bit of walking around, but well worth it.
Date: 01/21/2017 The place is very quite, relaxing, and awe-inspiring. They preserve pretty much every details and retain features of ancient buildings. Stone pavements and gardens are just beautiful. The location is accessible.
