Bitter kopi after taste tells a sorry tale that this Nyonya has lost her colors. Started as a little corner of authentic Peranakan cooking, many outlets later, its central kitchen food technology has driven the quality down the slippery road to mediocre. Make a better cup of Malaccan with Aik Cheong at home, though this kopi brand is also fast succumbing to a poorer tasting cuppa despite declining world coffee bean prices. Not surprising as historically Malacca has always lost its charm to invaders. Today, with Singaporeans, the fast and tasteless horde, roaming the streets, you won't find any authentic Peranakan cuisine left. Malaccans will always succumb to a fast dollar in the slow lane.
Oh what a contrast from what they were serving when they started. Quality has dropped tremendously now, had the curry chicken which used to be really good. Now it’s just boiled chicken immersed in curry sauce. Chicken was not fresh to begin with and whatever taste left was boiled right out of it before the pitiful pieces were dunked into the curry sauce. I hope the management takes note of this and get the central kitchen to buck up before more customers turn away to other restaurants. Very sad
Service was OK but I think the choice of kuih-muih should be increased as many popular kuih was not available.
Clean and reasonably priced food that taste quite good. Always in a handy location. Nice kuih too.
Famous Kuih, i like the small packed nasi lemak and mee siam
Laksa was good but very kosong to me, literally mee hoon and chicken thats all, other ingredients quantity is almost negligible. As for dessert, i ordered ice kacang and cendol rm6.20 each. Very small size and that's fine. The taste is absolutely horrible. Very coarse ice and taste totally gone, totally overpriced and taste below average. So called nyonya food but worse than mamak standard eh.
Was really thirsty and eyeing for cendol. Ordered cendol with red beans, thirst quenched but the cendol are not as good as the ones in Ansari cendol Taiping. Coconut milk is not fresh, tasted like the ones kept for couple of days from the box, gula melaka is utterly sweet and a bit strange in taste and red beans was hard like pebbles. I would call this frozen cendol, to be honest. The laksa was very good cuz it's spicy.
