It is so easy to take my kayak here and go down the river and back. The dock is super nice. The river is slow and easy to navigate but it's pretty smelly when you hit the part where \clean\ waste water comes in. The map can be confusing. Make sure you go the right way. I keep seeing people heading for the dam. It's not safe that way. Go the direction the dock aims.

The new kayak and canoe launch dock is really nice. If you have someone who has trouble getting in and out of their boat, this is the place for them!

The Canoe and Kayak Launch at Rood Bridge is the closest place I have found to Hillsboro and Beaverton to put a kayak in. The launch set-up here is nice and made specifically for canoes and kayak, so no bigger motor boats here. The dock and parking makes it super easy to put in a canoe or kayak and start an adventure. The next closest exit point is about five miles downstream at the Farmington Paddle Launch, which takes about two hours. Though the current is not strong, so if you wanted to go downstream for 30-60 minutes, paddling back to Rood Bridge Park should not be an issue. Although I think the set-up is great here for canoes and kayaks, I am turned off by a couple things: 1. There are a couple points at the beginning where the water is low, so there is a risk of getting stuck at the beginning of the excursion. It’s easy enough to move off these ponts, but they are annoying. 2. You do also have to paddle by filtered dumping from the Rock Creek wastewater treatment facility. The smell on this stretch of the Tualatin River is not pleasant, and the water looks and feels disgusting. If neither of these bother you, this is the perfect place to quickly escape and go kayaking if you are near Hillsboro or Beaverton.

Nice dock with two slips for paddle craft. One of the slips is set up for people with disabilities.
