Saalburg is the largest restored Roman Fort. It's an awesome sight to see. Built along the Limes defensive network, restored on its original foundation. Cool little gift shop outside, plenty of parking for all sized vehicles. The feeling of history you get when walking the grounds is quite inspiring. They have excellent guides and displays. The armory was closed for renovations but was expected to be opened next season. I definitely recommend this place for history enthusiasts.

A very relaxing and nice place to go near Frankfurt. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. The ticket is priced at seven euros. Inside the fort, there is museum, cafe, and a peaceful garden for a nice walk. It's a kids friendly site. Overall a good place to spend three to four hours
Incredible place to have a better impression of the Roman empire extension and it's limits on the northern side of the Empire. The admission price cost 7 (on 2020) and once you are inside the fortress you are able to visit a couple of different museum and workshops from the period. Inside you also have the option to eat something and the prices are really good. I definitely recommend it for people of all ages and don't forget to walk around the fortress to see the famous limes that were built
My wife and I went with some friends and enjoyed Saalburg very much. Great history. Great ruins to see. Great museums. Easy to get to from Frankfurt, about a 20 minute drive.
Travel back to the past, take history with every breathe of yours. That's happen in Saalburg. A whole reconstruction of a legionar camp base at the limes of the Roman Empire. Take at least 2 hours for yourself to visit all the exhibitions and just to walk in the ancient surranding.
