Donated plasma, got there at 9:20am and took around 1.5 to 2 hrs on Saturday. Overall great experience, I got a restaurant free coupon and Gatorade chips ahoy and goldfish. Did not hurt and felt great afterwards. Blood only donors finished faster but I donated plasma since its needed right now. My dad was saved in Jan 2020 due to blood transfusions and my husband got covid in July 2020 in icu for a week and a plasma donation saved his life. Please donate blood or plasma if you can. Very clean and staff is friendly. You can probably donate blood in your lunch hr but for plasma maybe 2 hrs.

A disorganized mess. Fun fact! We Are Blood once turned me away for showing up late to my appointment. “We have a strict schedule.” Okay, annoying (I’m going out of my way to donate my blood to you). But understandable. Except it doesn’t go two ways: I’ve been sitting here waiting for half an hour past my appointment time to give blood. Even doctors see me faster, and I’m paying them. I can see and hear quite a few employees doing morning while multiple donors wait. Get it together. I would recommend you donate your blood to an organization that can see you in a timely manner. Unless you really enjoy waiting rooms I guess.

From their website..... Questions & answers Q: Do you need to make an appointment, or just show up ? A: Either but an appointment is preferred I always donate because I feel like it is a good practice and giving back to my community. Their bus was at our sister location today, so I thought what the heck. With a injured foot, wearing a boot, I hobbled over to try and donate based on what the website says and basically had the door slammed in my face by some super friendly guy that said \you're not on the schedule\ Wow? So I hobbled back without donating. If that guy doesn't like his job, he should rethink what he does for a living, just be a little nicer to people trying to give back to their community. Without naming specific business, it was today off of burnet road at 1:30 pm. Smile when you are not happy, it makes a difference. Thank you for your prompt response. I am in customer service and rarely if ever do one of these silly reviews, but tried to call and was unable to talk to anyone. To be heard and treated kindly is all one really ask for. Today was probably someone's bad day as I have never had this experience before and will gladly return. Thanks again as always, we all stumble here and there.

This is the 5th time I've been here to the Lamar location (once to a Bloodmobile). My experience with the staff at WRB are professional, friendly and I feel like I'm I good hands here. They do a thorough check of your medical history, and have several procedures in place to make sure your blood is safe and fit to use for the community. The technician helping me (Amana?) was very kind and when I told her I tend to get dizzy after donation she got me Gatorade to sip on and ensured I was comfortable. The procedure feels like a pinch bc they know what they're doing. When I did mention briefly that I felt dizzy (which is very typical for me since I have a small stature) she and several staff immediately went through some procedures to help me feel better right away. Then afterwards I get to have snacks and drinks in their dedicated snack bar. Again, very professional staff; this is the place to go donate blood in Austin!

Donated 17 of my many pints at this location - almost always very skilled nurses, with short waits, and fun events. It's THE local blood bank of Austin; more week redirected in the area than Red Cross. Save a life!
