As is true for much of Thailand, there is plenty of shopping and food to be had around here. Off the boat, there is a large mix of Thai food and handmade items. By nightfall, the boats take visitors out on a lightning bug tour along the Mae Klong river. While I'm no stranger to lightning bugs, seeing them from a boat in an unfamiliar river was a fantastic experience. Lodging around the market may be suitable for some, but I opted for a more secure place away from the canal. PS: Do not pet the water monitors, no matter how badly your urges are.

Nice and comfortable places. Recommend to take the small boat for fireflies! A lot of fireflies on the trees. Just like Christmas tree!
Very nice and wide area with bridges and small alleys. Feels a bit like venice. Many gift shops and restaurants and coffee shops. Many different possibilities to get on a boot tour.
Amphawa was surprisingly quiet on our most recent visit. The waterways were taken over by huge monitor lizards and only a handful of shops and restaurants were open. Let us hope that business picks up soon in this wonderful little tourist spot.
Very picturesque place. A lot of animation on the canal with boat carts but also in the surrounding alleys and on the bridge. Besides the chance to buy many items, food and fresh fruit, a very beautiful and colorful sight can be enjoyed on sunset and early evening. A very interesting visit, it was well worth the drive.
